1646 West 11TH Pl Los Angeles, CA 90015
What is Pico-Union like these days? It used to be an awfully crispy neighborhood with gang activity. Maybe it never was, maybe it was just reported as such.
Old LA, to be sure. Don't know the architectural terms to describe this sort of build on the back ramble-plex architecture. A skirt that covers the raised foundation that looks like a mobile home. Extreme squareness. Jutting additions that add in piecemeal ways, not maximized like it would now. Always a terraced-like back porch with side stairs. The penultimate of the old city house style is a long exterior back of house staircase added to get to an attic apartment.
The gold is in the backyard. Looks commercial. Wouldn't be surprised if it pre-dated the house. What is that chimney/vent? Bathroom? Wood stove in the shop? Three electric meters. Hmmm.
