As regular self-service water patrons already know, the outside water vending machine is broken. Unfortunately, there is no water vending machine repair person to call and, even if there was, my frugal nature would probably keep me from calling.
I determined that the yellow transformer seen at the upper right was no longer providing the 18v required. Remarkably painlessly, I was able to order a replacement transformer from Coinco's regional office. But, would it be enough? Was the transformer the problem or was it a symptom of an issue elsewhere?
After replacing the transformer, this solenoid started smoking! A lot!
So, the water machine is still not working. Sorry! I ordered a rebuilt coin acceptor today, so we should be up and running soon. And because I can't help myself, I am keeping the old one for parts.
