Mister Jalopy on NPR's Day to Day
Along with Dale Dougherty and Nemo Gould, I was interviewed for NPR's Day to Day on the Maker's Movement. Celeste and Shereen did a great job bringing together a compelling piece on why we should be doing more making and less buying.
Having written the Maker's Bill of Rights back in 2005, I feel that we have effectively made our case to makers that we deserve to truly own the things we purchase. Having won that battle, I have devoted myself to talking to corporations to explain how lowering the draw bridges and engaging consumers is not just respectful of consumers, but also sound fiscal advice.
Thanks NPR!

Coco's Customer Spotlight: Mike
Generally, Coco's does not perform repairs and refurbishment on customer's bicycles. This may change in time, but right now we can't keep up with the volume of bicycle refurbishment for our own used bicycle sales.
That said, we couldn't turn down Mike's project. He hauled his Redline BMX bike down from the rafters of his parent's house to relive his teen hoodlum days and asked if we would give it the legendary Coco's "Refurb, Never Restore." It was a no cash deal as we traded a couple of extra bikes from Mike's stable for the work.
The bike was dusty but well cared for. Jesse cleaned, greased, chrome polished, spit shined, replaced the tires, replaced the grips and popped a few wheelies in front of Coco's - just to make sure it was safe to ride.
